Jim Ronai started The Competitive Edge program in 1997. Jim's mission is to educate and train young athletes to utilize the principles of conditioning and strength training as a means of promoting peak athletic performance and life long healthy habits. Ronai has developed his program around a core of "7 Principles of Athleticism". These include AGILITY, COORDINATION, CORE BALANCE, FLEXIBILITY, POWER, SPEED and STRENGTH. Ronai believes that as an athlete masters these athletic skills, they develop the necessary self-confidence and discipline to excel in sport and in life. In addition to his work in athletic performance enhancement, Ronai is the Director of Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine at Rehabilitation Associates, Inc. Ronai holds a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College. He is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Ronai's vast experience in sports medicine include work with multiple High School, College, Professional and Olympic teams and athletes. Ronai served as an athletic trainer for the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympic Team where his Bobsled and Skeleton athletes brought home Gold and Silver! His duties also included assistance with all 2002 and 2006 Olympians including Hockey, Skating and Skiing athletes. Jim continues to consult for the US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation. Additionally, Ronai serves on the USA Baseball Medical Safety and Advisory Committee. Ronai is a former collegiate basketball player and has a background in Soccer as well Track and Field.

Peter Blumert comes to Competitive Edge by way of the West Coast. Peter earned his undergraduatedegree in Exercise Science at California State University. He went on to complete his Master's Degree in Kinesiology at Midwestern State University. Peter has competed in Football, Wrestling and Golf at he High School level and at the National level as a member of the 2005 U.S. Men's America's Cup Bobsled Team which finished 3rd in the world. Peter is certified as a Strength andConditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and completed an internship in strength and conditioning at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs CO. His experience in Speed and Power development make him a real asset to the Competitive Edge staff.

John Armstrong graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. While attending UConn he had experience working under the Department of Athletics/Physical Therapy with elite athletes as a part of strength/conditioning, as well as physical rehabilitation. Armstrong is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has experience working with athletes on an individual and group level. Armstrong is a Physical Therapist at Rehabilitation Associates, Inc. and continues to train individuals to achieve goals through various forms/styles of exercise. He competed in multiple sports while attending Notre Dame High School and continues to promote health through his profession and personal life. Client's comment that they feel that John is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and has great sense of humor.

Jesse Demers BS, CSCS. Jesse holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Human Performance from Springfield College. Jesse is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. His experience includes work at the High School, Collegiate and Professional ranks including the Springfield College athletic department and New York Islanders and Bridgport Soundtigers Hockey teams. Jesse does an exceptional job with general health and wellness personal training as well as individual and team based athletic performance training.

Brian Christy Brian graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science & Human Performance.,Brian is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. Brian is a former all-league football player and competitive mixed martial arts fighter. In 2007, Brian won the gold medal at the NAGA(North American Grappling Association) tournament. In 2008, Brian won the silver medal at the Ohio National Kickboxing Tournament. Brian is an excellent team and individual trainer and motivator.
